While pain can occur during sex, it is important to remember that it is your body's way of alerting you that something is wrong. This is where communication comes into play in order to reassess what is going on!

Some of the most common reasons why first-time sex might be unpleasant include:

- Uncomfortable situation
- Inadequate lubrication
- Nervousness/fear
- Possible infection or disease (vaginismus, etc.)
- Not sufficiently stimulated
Having sex for the first time involves experiencing new feelings, which may be unusual or unexpected, there could be some discomfort/pain, but shouldn't continue over time.
