For Those who might find it useful...
The UK Student Visa Guild from the Beginning to the End.
(Step to step on how to come to the UK through Study route)
------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Get all the Necessary Documents needed.
A. International Passport.
B. Degree certificate/Statement of Result.
C. Transcript.
D. 2/3 Recommendation letters. (Possibly one from your lecturer while one from your employer. If not get the two from your lecturers)
E. Statement of Purpose or Personal statement. (This is where you write your story of whom you are, why the course, why the particular school, why the UK. Why this and that)
F. Your WAEC certificate of at least C6 in English language or English proficiency letter, or IELTS.
G. Your Curriculum Vitae.
2. Go to your Chrome and look out for your desired Course and School based on your affordability and choice. (You alone know where you can major on)
A. If you don’t have a particular school in mind, type things like “Schools in the UK that offer Masters in Animal Husbandry”
B. When you see the schools, click on each of them and know their overviews.
C. Anyone that interests you, go to APPLY and take it from there.
D. There’s no application fee involved, so you can apply as much as you can.
E. You can apply for two different Courses in one school.
F. You can study any course. (I’m sure apart from Medicine, you can have Igbo language as first degree and go over to Nursing in Masters if you have the required experience)
3. Your Conditional Offer Letter will come and you will accept the offer(s)
A. Most offers come with some conditions which you would need to fulfill before you get Unconditional offer and then CAS (Certificate of Acceptance for Studies)
B. This is where paying of Tuition Deposit comes in.
4. Tuition Deposit.
A. Tuition deposit defers from one school to the other.
B. You can pay through the Form A. This is paying through the CBN official site and rate too which is cheaper but takes time before getting to the school. (I will leave the website on the comment section)
C. If you are using Form
D. You need to fill a form online on CBN Trade system site and the following documents are needed to upload online.
• Your degree certificate.
• Your Admission offer.
• Your school invoice or bill (Where they wrote how much to pay)
• Some banks request for Nysc. (Not Compulsory)
• International passport.
• Letter of Authorization. (This is where you write to your Bank to release such money out from your account)
E. After uploading them, you submit and wait for the approval.
F. After school must have acknowledged your payment. They will issue you CAS.
5. Get your CAS letter. (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies)
A. This is what gives you the permission to apply for visa
B. Book your Tuberculosis Test online and do it either in Lagos or Abuja.
C. Check out for their bank details, pay and go with the receipt.
D. It costs N57,800 and I will leave the site to book it on the comment section.
6. Build your Proof of Fund.
A. The UK accepts your Bank Statement or your parents’. Not your Uncle’s or Sibling’s.
B. The UK accepts a Statement that is at least 28 days old.
C. The amount you should have in your bank as POF is the Balance of your tuition fee after deposit, plus 9 months living expenses.
D. This place is always confusing people. Example,
If your school is outside London and the balance is £10,000. According to UKVI you should have £1,023x 9 months which is £9,207. ie £10,000+9,207= £19,207. This particular amount now, multiply it by CBN official rate which is close to N550. ie £19,207x550=N10,563,850.
E. So after our BODMAS mathematics, What should be in your Account as POF will be N10,563,850. To be on the safer side make it N11M.
F. This will be in your account for at least 28 days and it’s advised make you no touch the ego till you get wetin you dey find.
7. Start a Visa Application.
A. Any payment made here is on black market rate and not on CBN official rate.
B. Pay your Immigration Health Surcharge. This depends on your duration of your course. (12 months course £705 is different from 16, 20 or 24 month courses)
C. Pay Visa fee. It could be Standard, Priority or Super Priority.
D. There’s Standard which costs £383 which takes 15 Working days to get decision.
E. If you are struggling with time, there are priority (5 working days) or Super Priority (24 hours) payments
F. After the payments, choose your Biometrics venue either in Lagos or Abuja. It depends on where you applied and then start waiting for decision.
G. If approved, get email, go and pick it or you have it sent to you.
8. Search for Accommodation online or let someone there get for you, unless you have alternative.
A. Check Accommodation Apps like Zoopla and Spare Room.
B. I prefer find an alternative of getting accommodation.
C. Don’t leave your house in Nigeria without concluding on where you will stay.
9. Book your flight and Go Your way.
N/B: I posted this here because of those who always ask questions related to traveling to the UK.
GOODLUCK TO YOU ALL.
