NURSES ARE ANGELS
“I’m sorry to break this news to you ma'am, your mum died last night”
These were the first words nurse Clara heard on a Monday morning,
A day she thought would shine so bright...
This news was devastating,
Her mum, the only family she had died and she couldn't be by her bedside
But despite the heartbreaking news
She entered her ward with a cheerful smile,
Greeting all her patients and assuring them that they’ll be fine,
Her mind going back to the news about her mum, as Madam Ronke, one of her discharged patient hugged her as she filled the discharge form, saying a word of prayer to her as she did
She said, "Nurse Clara, your mum will live long"
not knowing her mum had just passed away the night before
As expected of her she said “AMEN”, putting on her best smile as she held back her tears.
Listen,
I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU THINK,
NURSES ARE ANGELS
Some say
Nurses are rude,
Nurses are whores,
Nurses are devilish...
What have I not heard and what will I not hear?
Even in a society where these stereotypes are made norm,
I am, and belong to the sect that says
“NURSES ARE ANGELS”
We are not superheroes,
We are not Marios,
We are just humans with brave hearts who simply try our best since this noble profession chose us
And if you insist that you still don’t know,
Read this poem till it sinks in...
