Roadmap To Living And Working In UK As A Registered Nurse Or Midwife
Unread post by Modian4u »
If you are a certified nurse or midwife here, and would like to earn more or have international experience by travelling to and working in UK, please read this article carefully and take appropriate actions. You can get registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) UK if you are willing to meet the few requirements. The minimum salary per annum you can earn in UK as a registered nurse stands at 22,128 pounds (N10,621,440). Besides, you are entitled to bring in your loved ones as a fully qualified nurse.
So, what hurdles do you need to scale through? It’s really simple especially if you allow us to help you along the way. Here are the five important steps you need to take:
STEP ONE:
REGISTERING FOR AND PASSING IELTS UKVI ACADEMIC
You must get registered with NMC and the first step towards actualizing the registration status is registering for and passing an English Language Test to prove your competence in communication in English Language. To do so, you will have to get registered for and pass IELTS Academic UKVI or OET. Since OET is yet to kick off here in Nigeria, the recommended exam to do is IELTS Academic UKVI. Please note that you will have to score at least 7.0 to become eligible for registration with NMC. Here’s the first help you can get from us.
At Modian Consulting Firm, we will register and thoroughly prepare you for the exam so as to hit minimum 7.0 IELTS score required. If we registered and prepared you for the exam and didn’t score at least 7.0, call back for a full refund of training fee or get coached without paying any extra fee.
Again, note that while you must achieve an overall score of at least 7.0, your score in writing could be at least 6.5 and at least 7.0 in each of Speaking, Reading and Listening section.
COMBINING TWO IELTS RESULTS
You can also combine two IELTS result done within 6 months of each other provided that you score at least 6.5 in writing and at least 7.0 in Reading, Listening and Speaking in either of the two sittings.
STEP TWO
REGISTERING FOR AND PASSING NMC CBT EXAM
Having met your language requirement in Step One, you are now eligible to submit application for registration to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). At MCF, we will help you submit your application free of charge! After about 20 minutes, you will receive an email inviting to book your CBT test at the nearest PearsonVue Centre.
Once the NMC has confirmed your eligibility, you must take and pass Part 1- Test of Competence otherwise known as NMC Computer Based Test (CBT). At MCF, we will register you for the NMC CBT and take the exam at one of our partner firms.
STAGE 3: SUBMIT YOUR DOCUMENTS TO US
After passing your IELTS Academic UKVI, you will need to send us the following:
• IELTS result
• CV( Please, cover all gaps on your CV and include a description of the role. Please include start and end date of each job and education in the month and year format)
• A COPY of your degree or diploma certificate in Nursing
• Skype ID ( for interview purpose)
• A copy of the data page of your international passport.
• Preferred ward to work
Upon receiving the above listed documents, we will book interview for you which will be done via Skype with one of the NHS Trust hospital chosen by you from the list of NHS Trust we provide.
The following specializations are covered: General (Adult) Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Learning Disabilities Nursing, and Children’s Nursing.
Please note that you can take your CBT exam before or after your Skype interview. However, we will need your CBT notification of result from NMC before sending your documentations for visa processing.
STAGE 4: VISA APPLICATION
If you are successful with your interview, we will now apply for your work visa. After arriving in the UK, we will register you for Part 2- test of Competence (OSCE) in the UK which will be paid for by the NHS Trust you chose in Step 3 to work for.
Stage 5: OBJECTIVE STRUCTURED CLINICAL EXAMINATION (OSCE)
This is a practical part of the test of Competence and it is designed to assess whether or not you are able to apply your knowledge and skills in providing care to patients at the level expected of a newly qualified nurse
Once passed, your registration with NMC will be completed and you will then be given your unique PIN number to practice as a qualified nurse. You will then move from pre-qualified to fully qualified and registered nurse which will reflect in your pay cheque and employment contract.
At this level, you are advised to start applying to bring in your dependents or loved ones.

A: Approach an agent only if you qualify for the three options given below. First of you would need check yourself whether you are eligible to register as a nurse/midwife in the UK. You must meet NMC's basic criteria to register as a nurse/midwife which is successful completion a minimum 3 year (or Equivalent) nursing programme and you must have minimum 12 months post registration experience as a qualified nurse or midwife. Also you must meet the one of the following criteria.
OPTION I: You must score 7 band in IELTS Academic version. You must score 7 band in All modules (listening, reading, writing, speaking). Candidates can also take two IELTS tests, in which case the scores in both sittings are above 6.5 and they achieve 7.0 or higher in all four fields when the results of both sittings are viewed together. Both tests must be within 6 months. Or you must score B grade in OET for all modules, candidates who take the OET, all grades in both sittings should be above grade C+ and they must achieve a grade B or higher in all four fields when the results of both sittings are viewed together. Both tests must be within six months and they must complete all sections on each test.
OPTION II: BSc / GNM Nurses who have passed in the academic years 2015-16 or later, with English medium study, and having at least one year experience in any reputed hospital. The course must have been composed of at least 50 per cent clinical interaction. At least 75 per cent of the course’s clinical interaction with patients, service users, their families and other healthcare professionals must have taken place in English. The training that you have undertaken must have provided you with an opportunity to demonstrate ability in reading, writing, speaking and listening in a range of environments. (This is the most confusing changes made by the NMC. Therefore fraudsters or scammers use this evidence to collect money from candidates.. Some companies even know this is not applicable to Indians but still they advertise this to gain candidates data. As far as my knowledge this will not be applicable for Indians as there is no hospital in India where candidate communicate with patients in English. To prove this none of the NHS hospitals in the country recruit nurses through this category. I am still waiting for a confirmation from NMC.
OPTION III: Registration and one year’s practice with a nursing or midwifery regulator in a country where English is the first and native language and a language assessment was required for registration

A: The Nursing and Midwifery council, UK test of competence is a computer based multiple choice tests that intend to assess a potential nurse’s nursing qualification, training and experience against UK Standards and confirms their competence to practice according to UK standards. NMC test of Competence has been made mandatory Since October 2014 for nurses and midwives trained outside the European Economic Area, seeking UK registration.
The test consists of two parts, one a computer-based multiple-choice test (CBT) and a practical structured clinical examination (OSCE). CBT implies Computer Based Test of competence. Applicants take this Test after the online eligibility assessment. The computer-based multiple-choice examination is conducted by Pearson VUE, at various designated test centers.
The CBT tests applicants’ theoretical and practice-based knowledge. The test consists of 120 multiple choice questions, of maximum 4 hours duration, with no negative score for unanswered questions. Examination results will be emailed to candidates within 48 hours after taking the examination. You can also obtain your results within 48 business hours by logging on to your Pearson VUE account which you will have created when booking your exam. Candidates are initially allowed two attempts of the CBT at separate sittings.
If they do not pass in the second attempt, they can re-apply to take the test again, but only after waiting for at least six months to do so.
The second part of the test OSCE can only be attempted after successfully passing the CBT It is only available in the UK at a designated test centre. OSCE implies objective structured clinical examination. Each part of clinical examination is known as a ‘skill station’ and candidates are to visit all the stations within a set time.
The OSCE is designed to assess a candidate’s ability to competently apply ones professional nursing or midwifery skills and knowledge in a real clinical scenario in a UK hospital setting. It is set at the level expected of nurses and midwives as they enter the professional.
The test of competence requires candidates to complete an online application process through NMC website. After your eligibility assessment, an NMC Candidate ID will be communicated to you by the NMC and you will receive authorization (ATT) to take the test. Before you can book and pay for your exam with Pearson VUE. Subsequently. You will be provided a username and password to log into your Pearson VUE account to book and pay for your CBT exam. Each Authorization is valid for six months.

Hello guys, I have so many people in my whatsapp pm asking me how I got a job in the UK, I'll just explain here so more people can know and avoid been duped.
I will only talk about the UK.
PLEASE ANYONE WHO ASK YOU TO PAY HIM MONEY IS A FRAUDSTER , RUN FROM HIM.
First step is to write and pass your English exam. For the UK, it MUST be Ielts academic for ukvi (Ielts ukvi academic). 97K (expected score: Reading- 7.0, Listening-7.0, Speaking-7.0, Writing - 6.5). please don't pay any liar to give you false result, you will be caught.
study materials : https://ielts4nigerianurses.wordpress.c ... 1-12-full/
Second step is to write a professional nursing exam called CBT. 80K (if you are a general nurse, register for Cbt adult nursing, if you are a psychiatric nurse please register for Cbt mental health nursing).
Study materials : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fpeamcdmbtqo ... Sa?dl=0ote:
Some people prefer to write CBT before ielts. It's OK to do so.
Some people also get an agency, have an interview on Skype or whatsapp video call, get a job before starting their exams. You can do it anyhow you want. For me, I got a job first and that kept me focused.
The agency I used is Insignia global partners. There are other trusted ones like MMA Healthcare and many others. Once you start the process you will know them.
As soon as you have your ielts and Cbt, the remaining steps is less than 3months and you are in the UK. I will resist the temptation of explaining the remaining steps because you may get confused. When you get in the system, it's easier to understand.
My advise is, please get a very good agency, sign a very good contract and you have nothing to worry about.
All your exams will be paid for from ielts, Cbt... Etc. Your nursing council UK registration fee, visa fee, flight fee, accommodation for 3months on arrival is also free. DONT LET ANYONE LIE TO YOU THAT YOU HAVE TO GIVE THEM MONEY.
Most agencies ask you to pay for ielts and Cbt yourself, when you enter the UK, you will get reimbursed. Please write your exams if you have the money, you will be reimbursed as promised. You also resume work as soon as you arrive the UK.
For those with children, they will join you within 3-6months of your entering the UK.
Note: when you get to verification of credentials with nursing council Nigeria, the 54k you will pay is your responsibility. So have in mind you need 97k+80k+54k only, then few expenses here and there like transcripts and courier. All others are free.
All the best as you decide to extend your wings to Global Nursing practice . Kindly share so nurses will stop falling into the hands of wicked fraudsters.
