Nollywood Mispresentation of Nigerian Nurses

Unread post by Kunle Emmanuel »

NOLLYWOOD, NOLLYWOOD, WHA ARE THEY UP TO?, OR IS IT IGNORANCE?

The nollywood artists entertain to make people happy, educate and promote our culture, they ought to be an ambassador of grace and showcase the correct information about people, profession, society, groups etc. but it is not the case when they are showcasing nurses in their films, home videos and soap operas, they choose to represent Nigerian professional nurses with quack's activities in the private hospitals.

Those... people they show their activities were trained by their employers - Drs, they can be proficient in what they are thought or otherwise, but they can never be a Nurse neither should they be called a Nurse but auxiliary Drs. Using them to represent a noble, heavenly and internationally recognized profession like Nursing shows their level of ignorance, does it mean their wives and children are been attended to all thru their lives by quacks, or are they ignorant of good standard and professionally sophisticated hospitals home and abroad, i used to think they are the most exposed, but when i ponder on their activities, alas!, they lack adequate knowledge in medicine and what transpires in the hospital, it is better nollywood artists stop writing hospital scripts or act hospital based films with so much display of ignorance that may inspire hatred among viewers, they should seek knowledge from professionals if they must, this will make their work locally and internationally sellable.

As it is now they will be a laughing stock among enlightened people all over the world whenever they are viewing their work, they need to learn and improve their knowledge on hospital activities and professionals that works in the hospital or else they might face litigation for their misreprentation of Nurses activities in their films, videos, soap operas and stage plays.

NURSES ARE GREAT PEOPLE, NOLLYWOOD ARTIST SHOULD LEARN ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES OF PROFESSIONAL NURSES, STOP SHOWING QUACK ACTIVITIES AS NURSES ACTIVITIES.

NOLLYWOOD ARTISTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC SHOULD NOTE THE FOLLOWING;

1. Professional nurses are been misrepresented by Nigerian artists,

2. What they show as nurse’s activity in their films, videos and stage plays does not represent Nigerian nurses but the activities of quacks in the cottage hospitals they might have had contact with.

3, Nurses have no time to engage in mere gossips but we brainstorm with ourselves and other professionals to proffer solution to patient’s problems.

4. N...urses don’t sleep around with Doctors because we both have different and busy schedule of duties which overwhelms us beyond mere bodily passion, if you don’t believe go to LUTH, UCH, LASUTH, UBTH and others to catch a glimpse of our activities.

5. Professional Nurses don’t sit by the canter or desk, because we are not receptionists, we are ward managers that coordinates all the activities on the ward, esp. concerning the patients, we are patients advocate, the angel on the wards and units.

6. Nursing is profession, we are not errand boys or girls to Drs as you portray us in your nollywood films, rather we are co-managers of patients, in fact no hospital can function optimally without a trained Nurse, we are the heartbeat of patients care, we rub mind with other professionals to give d desired care to patients, We undergo rigorous training, we keep training and retraining ourselves to meet up with modern healthcare delivery, we spent nothing less than 8 years in school though not at a stretch to earn the title of being called a nurse.

7. We renew our practicing license every three years to remain relevant in the system, after undergoing a refresher course to update our knowledge; we have and know most things about our pts, more-over, we took an oath and a pledge before we entered into the profession.

NURSES ARE NOT JUST ANYBODY, WE ARE SELECTED FEW THAT ARE CALLED TO SALVAGE HUMANITY FROM DISEASES, AND SICKNESSES.

WE ARE DEDICATED TO PROLONGING LIFE AND IF DEATH IS INEVITABLE, NURSES ENSURE A PEACEFUL DEATH.
