Nurses and midwives in Ebonyi State have promised to wage war on quackery and sharp practices now prevalent in the state rural areas.
The state Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Comrade Nnachi Michael, made the pledge while addressing journalists in Abakaliki during this year’s Nurses Week with the theme: “Closing the Gap, Millennium Development Goals 4, 5, and 6; Nurses Role.”
The week witnessed the inauguration of the Nurses’ House built by the association.
Michael called on the government to assist the association to enable to furnish the house and procure other equipment that would enhance the work of nurses and midwives.
The chairman reiterated the preparedness of the association to ensure the qualitative healthcare service delivery, especially in the rural areas where, according to him, those without professional training parade themselves as nurses and midwives.
