There should minimum standard salary for each state. I suggest 40k for Lagos.

I think the salary for nurses in Nigeria is very poor. Abroad here is as follow.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Attended 2-year technical school ($54-60k a year)
Registered Nurse (RN): 2-year associate degree (60k-74k a year)
Registered Nurse (RN), B.S.N: 4-year Bachelor degree (74k –100k a year)
Advance Practical Nurse (APRN), MSN: 2year Masters Degree holder (96k-155k a year)
MSN, ED: 2years Maters Degree in Education (85k-100k)
DNP (Doctorate Nurse Practitioner): 2 years doctoral program (155k –250k a year)

Nurses should come together and rise up to salary increase.

Actually this happen to be my first comment. But you know i disagree with Adella. I dont know where she got these wages rates from!!!! unless she lives in california where the cost of living is very HIGH. Please send me the name and number of any LPN making $54-60k in the USA except califonia; The FBI is already looking for them.

I will use myself as an example. I graduated with a BSN and was offered $20 per hr starting rate. abeg how does that translate to $70,000? Your calculator must be broken. We must consider the fact that nurses work 36hrs per week so $20*36 = 720*4weeks =2880per month*12 =$34560 per year. But maybe it is because of the state I live in but another friend with a BSN is earning $28 perhr with 40hrs a week =53760 a year so please get your facts straight before posting unreal wages.

Even in California, there are no BSN, RN with an Ed.D that makes 100k. There are no accredited post regular masters DNP that is doable in 2 years. Besides this, no DNP, anywhere in the US makes 150k, except if it an owner-run business. Think of it, some physicians (doctors) who spent forever in school (4 years for BS, 4 years for medical degree and at least 3 years for residency) still earn between 90k and 120k.

47% of Abuja residents earn below N30,000 monthly – Survey
The Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory, Ms Olajumoke Akinjide said at the 8th National Conference on Investment, “The FCT Administration recently carried out a demographic household survey to generate basic data and information for the purpose of planning and development of the FCT. We were able to ascertain that 72.11 per cent of the households earn below N100,000 per month and that the majority of the workers fall within the low income group.
“About 46.9 per cent earn below N30,000 per month; 19.77 per cent earn between N30,000 and N50,000 per month; while about 5.44 per cent earn between N50,000 and N100,000 per month. This means that only about 28 per cent earn above N100,000 per month in the FCT.” http://www.punchng.com/business/busines ... ly-survey/

How does this concern NURSES?

The public do have standards and minimum salary for state and federal but that is not the case with private nurses. It is important that we set the pace and value the worth of ourselves particularly in the private hospital or industry where we work. Monthly earning at different states differs; having an idea of what is the return on investment in your area will gives bargaining edge when you go for the next job.

Payment in govt. is a better and i encourage many to go it. Salary at many private hospital is very poor. The effect making use quack without regulatory control is not allowing salary improvement. I heard Lagos private hospital pays better than other state.. 8-)
