NURSING TRAINING MIGHT BE STRESSFUL BUT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PAINFUL: NURSING PROFESSOR CRIES OUT - NAS 2017
Must nursing training come with tears?
Does it have to be full of pain for it to be quality?
You could hear a pin drop as everywhere was quiet when Professor Prisca Adejumo reeled out these questions at the recently concluded Nursing Academia Summit organized by Institute of Nursing Research, FCN South West Zone, Nigeria at the University of Ibadan.
The theme was "Current Trends in Nigerian Nursing Education: Fixing the Cracks.
She went further by asking the nursing lecturers and students this question:
How many of you here present never cried as a result of a painful experience during your nursing training?
Can you please raise your hand
No hand was up
Furthermore, she had this one more question for the nursing lecturers:
How many of you are caring for the nursing students like you will care for your children?
Nigerian Nursing Lecturers, let us always have this consciousness. We are parents and mentors to our students.
May God help us all
To be cont'd
