The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. James Epoke, has said the institution’s board has approved the building of more facilities for Nursing Science/Dentistry Departments.

Epoke said this on Tuesday in Calabar at the Second Induction and Oath Taking Ceremony for 46 Bachelor of Nursing Science graduands from the Department of Nursing Science.

He said adequate facilities would give the students conducive learning environment so they could come out better equipped.
The VC expressed satisfaction that the graduands had performed well in their professional examinations, with 100 per cent success.
The Dean, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Prof. Anne Asuquo, said she was satisfied with the quality of nurses being graduated from the faculty and commended them for their hard work.
She said nurses played very significant roles in the society and stressed the importance of having practical experience as a professional.

She advised incumbent student nurses to be serious with their practicals, adding that without such experiences, they would come out half-baked. Also speaking, the Head of Department of Nursing Science, Dr. Ekpoanwan Umoh, said the induction offered students the opportunity of not only having a degree in nursing, but to also practise.

While presenting graduands for induction, the College Secretary, Mrs. Uduak Akang, who represented the Secretary General/Registrar of NMCN, welcomed them into the Nurses and Midwives Council of Nigeria.
