How to complete applications for Indexing and Examination

General Instructions

All accredited Nursing Institutions and their admitted Students are advised to visit the http://www.nmcnigeria.org or portal.nmcnigeria.org to complete applications for Indexing and Examination, as applicable.

Students are to complete these three (3) key steps for Indexing and Exam Applications:

Step 1: Visit the council site at portal.nmcnigeria.org to initiate the appropriate application

Step 2: Obtain online clearance to proceed for payment from your school clearance officer, then

Step 3: Proceed to make payment using available payment options on the portal

Important Notice:
  • You are advised to scan copies of the required documents / credentials that are to be uploaded in the recommended file format i.e. .Jpeg, size and dimensions before you start your application.
  • You are to proof read the entered information before you submit the application to your school officer for clearance.
  • Please note that you will not be able to edit any wrongly spelt information on your application, especially after clearance and actual payment is confirmed on the portal.
Any application that is not paid for before the closure date will not be attended to by the Nursing & Midwifery Council and late entry registration fee will be charged to the applicant.

The Council's policy on change of name is as follows:
  • 1. Change of name is allowed for married women only and this applies to change in surname only.
    2. Addition or change of other names is not acceptable
    3. Change of names for males is not acceptable
    4. Only three consistent names in full will be acceptable for all Nursing and Midwifery Council Nigeria records.
Requirements for change of name:
  • 1. Handwritten application for change of name
    2. Photocopies of certificates of registration
    3. Photocopy of Marriage Certificate or detailed sworn affidavit of marriage
    4. Photocopy of newspaper publication in a national daily (full page)
    5. Original teller of payment of prescribed fees of N5,000 only into Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria; First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Account Number: 2014179152.
Other condition(s):
If divorced: Divorce papers.
For widows: Death Certificate
