Nurses and all healthcare workers are at risk for exposure to serious, and sometimes deadly, diseases. It is recommended and I would compulsory for you to complete your hepatitis A and B vaccination.

Protect yourself, your patients, and your family members.

Remember Dead Bees don’t make honey.

Safety first!

Nurses Safety Tip For Today

Many nurses work, work and work (i.e. they overwork) in order to 'make' money till they unknowingly develop ill health as a result but in the end they start spending the money they have 'made' to treat the ill health they developed while trying to 'make the money'.

Some constantly work overtime, some do double-shifts, multiple jobs, some travel many miles/kilometers, some have no time to eat or ...rest, some have no time for families/relationships and so on. All because of work!

As a result many people are stressed (physically, mentally); many have ulcers, high blood pressure; psychosocial problems; many have even had accidents with irreversible consequences, to mention a few.
We are to work in order to enjoy our money, and not to spend our earnings on illnesses.
No one can finish the world's work!

Dear Nurses, workwise and worksafe! find time for rest, don't compromise your vacation and ensure you do annual medical examination.

You shall eat the fruit of your labour.

DAILY NURSING THOUGHT
Always expect your patients and their relatives to be unreasonable, rude and irritating.
They are like that because the burden of illness agitates them.
Hospital is a place of anguish and sorrow for ordinary people.

THAT IS WHY PEOPLE TELL THEM 'SORRY'.
Therefore, prepare yourself as a professional Nurse to manage all crisis that may arise and create an environment that will melt their anxieties and facilitates their healing.

Do not allow their behaviour enrage you and cause you to be rude and aggressive too.
That will mean that you do not even understand the psychological science of your clients' management and hence, unfit to be a modern day Nurse.

AGGRESSIVENESS IN NURSING IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNACCEPTABLE!
ASSERTIVENESS IS THE TOOL.

Be scientific in all your actions including your interactions with patients and their relatives.

Be their guardian angel!
NURSES, REMAIN GREAT!

Thank you so very much for the tips about safety for today's nurses. I would agree that today's nurses need to be on guard all of the time about safety. Here are a few things in order to keep nurses safe:

1. Always wash your hands.

2. Always wear gloves.

3. Always wear protective devices.

4. Always get your vaccinations.

My nursing job is that I work in the breakfast room on the memory care unit at an assisted living facility. The nursing safety tips that I would do are the following:

1. Do not run while feeding or serving breakfast.

2. Do not hurry transporting patients.

3. Take your time with each meal preparation.

4. Walk slowly.

Many workplace stressors that can produce diseases and injuries are present in nursing work environments. These stressors include factors related to the immediate work context, characteristics of the organization, and changes that are occurring external to the organization but throughout the health care industry.
Nurses experience significant physical and psychological demands during their day, as well as a work safety climate that can be adverse. The external context within which nurses practice includes lean managed care contracts, increasing use of complex technological innovations, an older nurse workforce, and increasing numbers of very sick elderly patients (aging population). Factors at each of these levels can produce threats to nurses’ safety while on the job.
