Nurses need to vocalise their contributions

Unread post by Kunle Emmanuel » Sat May 16, 2015 4:23 pm

This week saw the celebration of International Nurses’ Day at hospitals and community settings across the country.

The anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, 12 May, is a day when nurses raise the profile of their work and feel proud of what they achieve.
I don’t think nurses spend enough time sharing best practice, telling their peers and the public about the contribution they make and vocalising all that should be celebrated about nursing.
If nurses don’t do it, no one else will. Nursing has been scapegoated for many of the major healthcare scandals in recent years, and nurses have complained that their voices have been swept aside by the barrage of negative publicity that ensued.

How well can express our contributions to the public?
