Mrs. Olufemi Iseyemi Folakemi advised all Nigerian graduate nurses - GNAN / UGUNSA to make positive impact in moving the profession forward instead unnecessary division among Nigerian Nurses.

She said, all argument, vain barbing, ego, and division, seems to have earn us nothing. Intelligent people use their edge over others to lift them up, they brain storm instead of engaging in unprofitable argument. If you feel you have achieved what is greater and more meaningful than others in your group, use same to project their image and move them forward.

As it is now, the current set of nurses that had their degree directly from the university have not used the knowledge acquired to make any meaningful impact in nursing profession in Nigeria. They have almost forgotten that life is not static. There are armies of graduate nurses coming up from those you are despising and they will push you aside in few years to come if you do not do the needful now, So that it will be written concerning you that you brought nursing to a higher status with your education. Note that "nurses will never be called assistant to other nurses". It is an unachievable task. Go and design other means of moving the profession forward and stop rubbing shoulder with your mother. (NANNM). Very soon the real graduates that comprises of those who went through school of nursing and university direct admission will take up the fight and re unite nurses because we are one, we sat for same qualifying exam that earn us the qualification to be called nurses.

If you have all the diploma and degree in this world, without passing nursing council exam and getting certified, You cannot be called a registered nurse. That is the unifying point. The pharm. Tech. And Lab technicians did not write same qualifying exam with the degree holders in their profession. Until nursing council design separate qualifying exam the two entry point, all Nigerian nurses are one professionally. If we now want to make up academically, it should not divide us but act as a catalyst to move us forward. Some of us Love this profession , we did not come in by accident and we desire true progress, not a show of knowledge that does not inspire positivity, joy, happiness and the desired change we all longed for in nursing profession. If you argue from now till eternity, of what benefit is it?. Every group should work together to achieve success. Or else your so called education or degree is of no particular gain or merit.

NANNM too should act as a mother. Let us do genuine brain storming and stop making a mess of nursing profession. I am very delighted to be a nurse!

To think the so called GNAN / UGUNSA are here blabbing again is very ridiculous.. This is no time to respond to their ridiculous write up that can be see on only Facebook.. But they should get this straight

" NANNM will achieve all its demands including the scheme of service and internship without their help ."..
And in due time graduate nurses will elect the leadership they truly want in UGONSA/GNAN who will work progressively with NANNM and will have a clear focus for nursing development in Nigeria. Not some set of people who are even unworthy to be called graduate nurses if education was properly managed in Nigeria..

Let everybody know the self imposed and selfish set of people who are calling themselves GNAN executives do not represent ALL graduate nurses in Nigeria..

We don't want people who are being used by minister for health to cause division amongst us. We don't need unenlightened set of people who have no useful impact to nursing development and student development to call themselves our GNAN executives..

We want truly elected leaders in a consensual poll to be in GNAN. Nursing will move forward in Nigeria and we will all be part of it. ALL OF US. Those who don't have degrees will be given more opportunities to have it, all nurses will have it.. ANY NURSE that went through a school of nursing education will successfully go through the university nursing education if the desire and will is there , so I am sure what is hindering most people is opportunities..

And I am using this opportunity to inform all nurses to broaden our horizon beyond nursing practice .. It takes more than a life in a box to truly achieve in life ...

Nurses should not shy away from politics and public administration, it will go a long way to help our development..
If their was just ONE nurse today in the senate , much difference would have been made ..
My advise to all is to ensure *continued nursing education even beyond BNSc certificate.

*we also move into politics and participate actively
* we see every nurse as part of ourselves and should be a ladder up or helper to each other in developing ourselves..
*we see beyond peanuts they give us as remuneration.. We are suffering much today because we are not policy makers even for our own profession.

WE WILL GET ALL OUR DEMANDS no matter how long it takes so let no one fret at all. We should learn that most of what we want to achieve at once are what some people have worked to achieve for decades and they have sworn to make ours impossible. But nursing is an ordained profession, with our persistence and dedication to service to humanity God will lead us beyond our vision.
