Why do vaginas have secretions

Unread post by Sister Nadi » Mon Feb 13, 2017 9:16 pm

VAGINAS! The vagina is a truly amazing part of the body. It has been misunderstood for centuries. Some people think that it is closed like a locked box when a woman is a virgin. It is NOT! Some people think that urine comes out of the vagina. It does NOT.

Secretions are another mystery entirely. The vagina is made of tissue that is very similar to the tissue in your mouth - meaning that it is a membrane that needs moisture once puberty begins.

What does that mean to you ladies and gents out there?
1. Stop thinking that every fluid that you see is an infection. Starting with puberty a vagina makes secretions. That goes on until menopause (and after if you are lucky).

2. It is important to know what is normal for you. Secretions may be thin or thick, white or off-white and may be a lot of a little. It frequently changes during the month because of hormonal changes around ovulation.

3. The VAGINA is SELF-CLEANING!!!!!!! No chemicals, soaps, douches or anything else is supposed to go into a vagina with a few exceptions: a penis, a tampon, a condom (female) or other methods of family planning/birth control given to you by a qualified doctor or health professional.

4. Every time you put unusual things in your vagina you run the risk of upsetting the natural balance and creating yeast infections or making yourself more vulnerable to infections and disease. Unusual is alum, Detol, most things for douching and any other fun things you can think of.

5. The odor of the vagina may also change during the month. This is why it is very important for you to know what your normal smell is. I suggest that you keep a calendar or diary for a few months to see what typically happens and when it happens. For example, many of you may wonder about a slightly unpleasant smell after sex or during certain parts of your cycle. Do not panic! Wait 24 hours before you think it is an infection. If it itches, smells foul like fish or has a discharge that turns green, yellow or some other color that IS usually a sign of infection.
When you want to clean yourself, ladies - use only soap and water outside of the vagina on all the parts that have hair or would have hair if you did not shave.
Using a condom (male or female) will help you to protect yourself against disease (this also goes for sex toys) and pregnancy if you are not in a monogan=mous relationship or do not know your lover's status. My question is WHY would you have sex with someone you do not know well enough to know their health status: HIV, Herpes, HPV, Syphillis, Gonorrhea, Hepatiis, and the list goes on and on for at least another dozen STIs.. Some of these diseases or illnesses are with you for life. Other may create problems for days, weeks, months or may make you infertile.

Your vagina is your property. Protect it like the precious jewel!
