Natural way to prevent pregnancy

Unread post by Aunty Nurse »

This is an age long natural form of contraception! The ‘Safe days’ method is suitable for people who :

1. Do not like any other form of artificial contraception.

2.Who have sex only occasionally

3. Who do not terribly mind getting pregnant.

For your information, this method is not reliable and has a very high failure rate.

This method is also known as ‘rhythm’ or ‘biological’ method and is unpopular simply because it is not guaranteed!

First of all, to better understand this method you must be well informed about the monthly cycle. So be sure you know your menstrual and ovulation cycles.

The unsafe days are the days you are most likely to get pregnant if you have unprotected sex. Normally in a 28 day cycle, this is 5 days before ovulation (because research showed that some sperm cells can survive in the body up to 5 days ) and the day of ovulation itself (because the egg cell is fertile only within 24 hours).

So conventionally 6 days are the so called unsafe days ( fertile days) in a 28 days monthly cycle. Supposedly the other days are safe days ( infertile days). However this claim is not concrete due to fluctuations.

Having said that, PLEASE NOTE, ovulation cannot be precisely predicted and may vary for different reasons including :

1. Stress or illness,

2. Also young girls and older women often have irregular cycles.

So it is first necessary and important to know how many days on average your menstrual cycle is and how regular it is.

If you note down the first day of the period for twelve months, you have a good basis and tool for tracking and understanding your cycle.

Safe And Unsafe Days Symptoms

In some women they can feel their ovulation as:

1. A sharp pain in their ( ovary region) pelvis

2. Changes in the breasts (heaviness ), skin, mood or sexual desire.

Also measurement of their body temperature can be a predictor of ovulation.
Body temperature rises slightly after ovulation. The rise is not more than about 0.2 degrees (0.4 degrees Fahrenheit). There are digital thermometers which can show the small difference easily.
However in order to use this method correctly, you need to take your temperature every day as soon as you wake up.
There are fertility devices on the market, which monitor changes in temperature urine on saliva. The best-known is called Persona. It is a small handheld monitor with a series of urine test sticks. Persona predicts the fertile and infertile times of the menstrual cycle.

From the first day you see the blood of your period. ( note this day)

2.Pick up a calendar and count 14 days including the first day of the blood stain.

3.Mark the 14th day with a pen( ovulation )

4.Mark 5 days before the 14th day

5.Mark 3 days after the 14th day( extra days are precautionary)

6. The marked days are your likely unsafe days ( fertile).

7. If you have sex on any of these days then you have 98% chances of being pregnant.

8.Do these every month and try and abide by these rules.

Please note however the above mentioned depends on the lenght of your cycle. Remember it is not always regular for all women.
As a rule if your cycle is 28 days then you most likely ovulate on about the 14th day.
