The Myths about Penis Size

Unread post by BabaO »

A lot of guys worry about the size of their penis. What they don’t realise is that their worry might be an imaginary one. This is because they don’t even know what the average size of a penis. It has been discovered that most men who worry about their size assume that they have a small penis, but in the real sense of it, they are just on the average.

Guys, be honest: do you wish you were bigger? Almost certainly, the answer is yes.

Some of those who feel they are of a small size base their conclusion on the complaints of their spouse. But they are ignorant of the fact that a woman who has become wide in her cores may not feel the tightness of the penis, thus concluding that her man is small. And this begins to affect the man negatively.

It has also been discovered by urologists that a lot of those who feel small under feel so because of their weight. “A lot of men who think that they have a small penis are overweight,” says Jennifer Berman, a urologist in Beverly Hills, United States of America and co-author of Secrets of the Sexually Satisfied Woman.

Losing weight will reveal more of that hidden shaft that’s buried beneath belly fat. It doesn’t actually increase your size, but it will look that way.

“I think there isn’t a guy in the world who hasn’t wished his penis were an inch or two longer,” says Michael O’Leary, professor of urologic surgery at Harvard Medical School and a urologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, United States of America.

However, after more than a century of generally dubious and sometimes lunatic penis enlargement attempts, there’s still not much you can do. Sure, there are lots and lots of supposed options out there -- penis pills, creams, brutal stretching exercises, horrific-looking devices, and penis surgery. Almost none of it works. The few approaches that can work often have modest benefits and serious side effects. How serious? In some cases, erectile dysfunction-serious.

“Trust me, if I knew of a way to safely and effectively increase penis size, I’d be a billionaire. But I don’t. Nobody does,” O’Leary said.

What is the average penis size?
The average penis size for a male varies on whether the penis is limp or erect. Certainly, an erect penis will be larger than one at its natural, soft state. The average penis size in a flaccid state is around 3.75 inches, while an aroused and erect penis is between six and seven inches.

According to a report, the largest recorded penis today is 9.5 inches when flaccid and 13.5 inches when erect and belongs to an actor from New York named Jonah Falcon. That size is very daunting to many women and likely to not cause pleasure during intercourse.

On the other end of the Jonah Falcon phenomenon is a micropenis, an unusually small penis that can even be rectified with growth hormones if treated very early in life. It may be difficult to engage in intercourse with a micropenis, but not an issue if a penis is just slightly below average at four or five inches. Many men with an average penis size feel the need to pursue penis enlargement products.

Myths about penis size
Historically, it has been assumed that the larger the penis, the stronger and more virulent a man is. A penis is often referred to as a male’s manhood. This has led many men to believe that the smaller their penis is, the less manly they are. Some people even believed a large penis is more apt to get a female pregnant. To such minds, the deeper it would go into the vagina, the better the chance for the sperm to reach their destination. Of course, this is not the absolute truth. Women who experienced shallow penetration have found themselves pregnant over the years.

There is also the myth that penis size correlates with the size of the actual man both in weight and height. Some believe the size of the foot predicts the size of the penis, and traditionally men with larger feet are taller, and in many minds tall equals stronger and more endowed.

Studies across the globe have disproven this theory in modern times, as diet and lifestyle can contribute to the size of a man and when these things changed, his penis size has remained the same.”

This age long belief that a lager penis means a man is stronger or more masculine has carried into today’s sexual society and media. Pornographic films often feature penises that are above average in size and women who seem to be receiving immense pleasure from this. This then evolves into common jokes about penis size and the desire of many males to have what they considered large penis, though they are on the average.

With all the emphasis placed on penis size, it’s no wonder that many men are finding reasons to feel small under, thus bringing themselves under intense pressure to undergo non-surgical penis enlargement methods.

But on a general and conclusive note, many people who are worried about their small size under, might have been those who have fallen victims of the many myths - both written and unwritten. They may not be as small as it looks, or they are made to feel and believe. Only a few of such may really have genuine concerns.

Does size matter?

One question that is prominent these days among readers of this column is how they can increase the size of the penis so as to be able to give more sexual pleasure to their wives. As a result of this request from my readers, I decided to conduct a little search on the place of the size of penis in giving pleasure to a woman and I came across this article which I believe will be helpful to you.

When people speak of penis size, they typically refer to length. Thus, a man with a short but wide penis would probably think of himself as having a small penis, and would be so thought of by others. However, width is part of size, although usually not acknowledged. Does width contribute to female sexual satisfaction? Is length more important? Or, perhaps size is unrelated to female sexual enjoyment.

The famous sex researchers, Masters and Johnson, have concluded that size of the male penis can have no true physiological effect on female sexual satisfaction. They base this conclusion on their physiological studies that show that the vagina adapts to fit the size of the penis. Because of this vaginal adaptation, they refer to the vagina as a potential space rather than an actual space. Thus, despite the worries of many males about the size of their penis, Masters and Johnson concluded that any size penis will fit and provide adequate sexual stimulation to the female. The present study was conducted to see if female college students would report their sexual satisfaction related to penis length, width, or neither.

To test the notion of the possible importance of length versus width and female sexual satisfaction, two male undergraduate college students - both popular athletes on campus - surveyed 50 female undergraduate college students, considered by the two males to be sexually active, based on the males’ prior social experience and knowledge of the females.

The female students ranged in age from 18 to 25 years old. In person or via telephone, the females were asked: “In having sex, which feels better - length of penis or width of penis?” In half the cases, the word “width” was used before the word “length,” but there were no order effects. There were also no effects for telephone versus personal interview. All female participants answered the question, perhaps because they knew the student asking the question.

Results and discussion

Of the 50 females surveyed, 45 reported that width felt better, with only 5 reporting length felt better. No females reported that they could not tell any difference. Some did report that sex in a relationship was better than sex without commitment.

Masters and Johnson have said that penis size should have no physiological effect on female sexual enjoyment, since the vagina adapts to fit the size of the penis. The current results call this conclusion into question, and point to the importance of penis width. However, Masters and Johnson could be correct if the present subjects are only reporting their psychological preference, and not showing a true physiological preference. In other words, the present study solely assessed females’ perceived level of sexual satisfaction, which might differ from actual physiological arousal and satisfaction.

It is not obvious why a wide penis would be preferred to a long penis, but speculation would suggest the following: Penis width may be important due to a penis thick at the base providing greater clitoral stimulation as the male thrusts into the female during sexual intercourse. That is, a wide penis would seem to offer a greater degree of contact with the outer part of the vagina, including the clitoral area. If this is correct, then Masters and Johnson are wrong about penis size being unrelated, physiologically, to female sexual satisfaction. Masters, Johnson, and Kolodny do not totally rule out penis size being relevant, but they suggest that it is likely of minor importance for female sexual satisfaction. Another possibility is that a wider penis provides the woman with a greater feeling of fullness, which is psychologically, and perhaps physiologically, satisfying.

Women reported that penis width was more important for their sexual satisfaction than penis length. The results were statistically significant. Penis width needs to be given more consideration, and taken into account when one discusses penis size.
